Hormones regulate the body's development, growth, reproduction, metabolism, immunity, and behavior in minute amounts and at specific times. Endocrine signalling is important in reproduction and embryo development, growth and maturation, energy synthesis, usage, and storage, electrolyte balance and maintenance, and behavior in both humans and animals.
