Biography

Richard Scranton joined Pacira in November 2011. As Vice President, Medical Health Sciences, he currently oversees strategic direction on health outcomes and economic research, and directs programs that assist Pacira’s customers in realizing the value provided by Pacira’s innovative products. In addition, he oversees medical educational activities and directs strategic alliance activities. He also serves as a member of the executive leadership team, is in charge of public affairs activities, which includes legislative activity and advocacy, and is also the lead on health affairs relating to the Department of Defense.

Prior to joining Pacira, Dr. Scranton was Chief Medical Officer for VeroScience in Tiverton, RI. He earned a Master's Degree in Public Health, Clinical Epidemiology/Clinical Effectiveness from the Harvard School of Public Health and earned his MD from the Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University. He completed his residency in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged as lieutenant commander, continuing as an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School. He also holds a BA in Biology from the University of Tennessee.
