Ronald CW Ma
Professor
Dr Ma’s research focuses on improving our understanding of the epidemiology of diabetes and diabetes-related complications, and to translate these to improve diabetes care. His laboratory has utilized several large cohorts, including the Hong Kong Diabetes Registry, the Hong Kong Diabetes Family Study, and several mother-offspring cohorts to identify genetic and other novel biomarkers associated with type 2 diabetes and its complications. Current ongoing projects include a large-scale multi-disciplinary effort to identify genetic and epigenetic markers that can predict the development of diabetic complications, functional characterization of novel type 2 diabetes genes, and long-term effects of gestational diabetes.
