Biography

Sabri is a postdoctoral fellow at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD. She received her PhD and Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Iowa.  Her professional experiences include work in various healthcare and social service settings.   For her dissertation research, Dr. Sabri examined the relationship between characteristics of victimization and co-occurring mental health disorders among substance using adolescents. Her research focuses on determinants and health effects of interpersonal violence, and cross-cultural and cross-national differences in risk and protective factors related to violence and health. She is currently engaged in projects in several areas, including: 1) examining abuse status and health consequences among Black women; 2) examining risk factors for severe physical violence, injuries and intimate partner homicides; and 3) South Asian women’s health, safety and wellbeing.
