Biography

Dr. David Kalfa is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon with a subspecialization in pediatric cardiac surgery. He passed the National Board of General Surgery (2009) and National Board of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (2011) in France. Dr. Kalfa graduated from Marseilles University Graduate School of Medicine with the highest level of distinction in 2010. During his certification, he developed a research program in Tissue Engineering applied to the field of Congenital Heart Diseases, that led to the obtention of numerous grants including a European Research FP7 Grant of 4,500,000 euros, as Principal Investigator. He completed a research fellowship in the Laboratory of Biosurgical Research, INSERM U633 « Cellular Therapy in Cardio-Vascular Diseases » in Paris, France and received his PhD degree in 2011 with the highest level of distinction. He then performed a clinical fellowship in Congenital Cardiovascular Surgery in Marie Lannelongue University Hospital in Paris, France from 2010 to 2012. After 3 years of intensive experience in Congenital Cardiac Surgery and exposure to highly complicated cases patients from all aged groups (neonates, infants, toddlers, teenagers, and adults), he is currently Instructor in Congenital Cardiac Surgery at CHONY -Childrens Hospital of New Yrok - New York Presbyterian, Columbia University, New York, USA.
