Biography

Dr. Ziyad Alharbi has received his M.B.B.S degree in 2008 from the Faculty of Medicine, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. After his graduation, he joined the Plastic Surgery Program at the Department of Plastic, Hand and Burn Surgery at the Medical Faculty of the RWTH Aachen University in Germany. Together with his clinical duties as a resident, he wrote his doctoral thesis (The Use of Fat Stem Cells and Collagen Based Scaffolds for Hypodermis and Dermis Reconstruction: an In-Vitro Study) and submitted it to the Promotion Office of the Medical Faculty of the RWTH Aachen University to obtain the M.D. degree. He also contributed in the international book (Burns: Prevention, causes and Treatment) by Nova Science Publishers, New York and wrote a Chapter about Carbon Monoxide Intoxication in Burns as well as he published journal articles regarding Chronic Wounds and Burn Care. Dr. Alharbi is a member in the German Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons, the European Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery and resident member in American College of Surgeons.

Research Interest

Dr. Alharbi has a special interest in Adipose Tissue-Derived Stem Cells and Biomaterials for Soft Tissue Reconstruction. In addition, he spends some of his clinical research toward Chronic Wounds and Burn Care.
