Background: Anesthesia can be provided by different techniques for various types of breast surgeries. Most day case surgery patients are moved to recovery with minimal discomfort from nausea, vomiting, or pain. Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is among the most distressing complication of anesthesia and surgery. Objective: To compare the efficacy of Granisetron and Ondansetron in preventing PONV in female patients undergoing breast surgery. Methodology: Interventional randomized trial having 250 selected patients who meet the inclusion criteria were randomly allocated to two groups by using random calculator. The patients in Group A was given Granisetron 0.04 mg/kg IV and Group B was given Ondansetron 0.1 mg/kg IV within 30 minutes of completion of surgery. After procedure patients were shifted to PACU for 12 hours to assess PONV. All the data was entered and analyzed on SPSS version 20. Results: The mean age of the patients was 30.14�?±11.61 years. The efficacy achieved in 136 (54.40%) patients. Insignificant difference was found between the study groups with the efficacy i.e. p-value=0.580. Conclusion: Both Granisetron and Ondansetron are equally effective in preventing PONV in female patients undergoing breast surgery.
