Abstract :

The thread lift is minimally invasive rejuvenation technique, that has been popularized in the past decade because of faster operating time, an opportunity for office-based practice, minimal recovery time, maximal convenience for the patient and fewer post-op complications. To start with any procedure, one must be familiar with the material being used and its indications for a successful outcome. Before learning the techniques to perform the thread lift, knowledge and grasp over the basics of threads are of utmost importance. In this lecture, he will try to elaborate the materials and designs of various threads available in the market for this novel practice. Basic points to be elaborated are: what are threads made of, what type of changes they can induce, what is their real efficacy and all these depend on what do we aim to treat. Threads have a vast variety according to their absorption period, morphology, type of filament and origin. Bio-resorbable polymers differ in their retention time, efficacy and persistence. Fibrosing and suspending threads differ in their properties and indications. It is very important to distinguish the difference between threads that are used for skin rejuvenation and threads that are used for lifting ptotic skin.
