The study is aimed to assess efficacy of a food supplement claimed to have slimming properties in overweight subjects suffering from metabolic syndrome. In order to reach this goal a clinical study is carried out on 40 (n=20 subjects in the active group and n=20 in the placebo group) female subjects. Product efficacy is assessed both subjectively and objectively after 1, 2 and 3 months of product use. It is conducted in accordance with the ethical principles for the medical research (Ethical Principles for Medical Research Involving Human Subjects, adopted by the 18th WMA General Assembly Helsinki, Finland, June 1964 and amendments). The study adheres to establish procedures to maintain separation between the investigator and her collaborators and the staff that will deliver the intervention. Required information: Height, weight, circumferences, adipose tissue thickness, blood parameters, blood pressure, total body and extracellular water. This database has been submitted to two way t test of Student for paired data. Statistical analysis is carried out using a Microsoft� Excel 2013 (vers. 15.0.4815.1001; Microsoft, USA) worksheet running on Microsoft� Windows 10 Professional (Microsoft, USA). According to the results, the food supplement was effective in helping to control body weight, body composition, blood pressure, cholesterol, glycaemia, and uric acid concentration when associated to a mild hypocaloric diet.
