Dr Yao has received his Ph.D. in Applied Chemistry from Tianjin University in 2010. He is currently working as an associate professor of Natural Products Chemistry at Xuzhou Medical College. As a medicinal chemist, his research goals are to obtain bioactive natural products and their analogues targeting cancers, diabetes and so on through isolation, chemical synthesis, biochemical pathways and cellular signaling transduction regulation. Based on this research and training in chemistry and biology of bioactive natural products, he has received several grants including NSFC as PI or Co-PIs. From 2014 to 2015, he is a joint research associate at Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Macau, Macau SAR, China. He has authored and co-authored more than 20 research and review articles. He is a fellow of the Chinese Pharmological Society.
