Burn Management

A burn is a type of injury to flesh or skin caused by electricity, chemicals, heat, radiation or friction. The treatment of burns depends on the area, location and depth of the burn. Burn depth is usually categorized as first, second and third degree. First degree burn is superficial and has similar characteristics to a typical sun burn. The skin becomes red in color and gets sensation. Second degree burns resembles the first degree burns; however, the damage is severe causes blistering of the skin and the pain will be more. In third degree burns the damage is skin death. The skin turns to white in colour and without pain and sensation.
