Role of the Radiologic Technologist in Virtual Autopsy in Italy. The Necessity of Specific Training to Support the Radiologist and Forensic Physician

The present document aims to provide guidance and consultation for medical Radiologic Technicians (RT) during the execution of instrumental imaging investigations post-mortem for forensic purposes. The increase in the incidence of autopsies for diagnostic purposes, violent deaths, sudden deaths and deaths in the workplace is highlighting the indispensability of such practice. The lack of a sufficient number of forensic radiologists has led to a growing need for trained radiologic technicians to assist the forensic pathologist promptly and accurately.
