Biography

Dr. Muhanad Hatamleh is a maxillofacial prosthetist thoroughly engaged in the field of maxillofacial prosthetics in both, prostheses construction and research. He has been taught and trained in premier UK institutions and holding professional clinical (UK dip MaxFac), Research (PhD, MPhil) and health managerial (MSc Health Mgmt) degrees. He is based at Queens Medical Centre/UK and engaged in treating patients with prostheses including extra-oral, intra-oral, body and limb prostheses. He is an active researcher in maxillofacial materials properties and bonding, maxillofacial prostheses design and construction. He also tutors undergraduate and postgraduate students at School of Dentistry, University of Manchester, UK. He is an active member in the many maxillofacial prosthetics and research organizations, including the British Institute of Maxillofacial Prosthetists and Technologists (IMPT), the International Anaplastology Association (IAA), Academy of Dental Materials (ADM), and the International Association of Dental Research (IADR).He is a review for many prestigious journals including Dental Materials and Journal of Prosthodontics.

Research Interest

Maxillofacial Materials and Techniques: Mechanical properties of maxillofacial materials (i.e. silicone elastomers) such as Tensile Strength, Tear Strength, Shore a Hardness, Elongation Percentage and Colour stability (colour change and optical density). Also bonding of materials to underlying substrates using Tensile Bond Test, Shear Bond Test, Peel Bond Test and Pull out Test. Composite Materials: Pre-curing properties such as Shrinkage Kinetics (strain and stress), Degree of Conversion, Viscosity and Stickiness. Post-curing Properties such as Mechanical Properties including Hardness, Fracture Toughness, Flexural Strength, and Compressive Strength. Aesthetic Properties such Colour stability, Optical Density, and Gloss retention. Bonding properties to Tooth Dentine, Enamel and Metal Surfaces such as Shear Bond Test.
