Biography

Dr. Taheri received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from University of New Mexico USA in 2004 during which time he developed special interest in biological systems and in vivo imaging. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship in the BRAIN Center at University of New Mexico with special focus on perfusion/diffusion imaging and stroke and managed the 4.7T animal imaging lab. In 2007, he became Research Assistant Professor at Neurology Department, where he was part of the research team working on Stroke, MS and VCI. In 2010, he joined the Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences at MUSC as assistant professor. His special interests and expertise are imaging and modeling Dementia, Stroke and Degenerative Neurological disorders.

Research Interest

Biomedical Imaging, Imaging and modeling Stroke evolution, Imaging and modeling blood-brain barrier in inflammatory diseases such as multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer’s disease, Translational studies.
