The present study was conducted to characterize herbal cosmetic preparation contain extract of Punica granatum seed oil, tea tree oil and Jajoba oil. Such natural oils were incorporated in aloe fresh gel cream base formula for the protection of skin against the UV induced aging. To investigate the antioxidant activity of cream formulations the UV radiation induced oxidative stress was generated in rats and defensive measured were noted after topically applied (2.5 mg cm-2/day) for 28 days. The level of antioxidant enzymes (catalase and Superoxidedismutase), non enzyme components (Ascorbic acid level and Melanodialdehyde) was estimated. The structural changes were observed by using histological techniques. Results showed significant improvement in Superoxide dismutase, catalase, total protein and level ascorbic acid with decrease melanodialdehyde. The treatments with such natural components support the current research which seems to indicate the most therapeutically beneficial pomegranate constituents are ellagic acid ellagitannins (including unicalagins), punicic acid, flavonoids, anthocyanidins, anthocyanins, and estrogenic flavonols and flavones. An explosion of interest in the numerous therapeutic properties of Punica granatum over the last decade has led to numerous in vitro, animal, and clinical trials. Pomegranate is a potent antioxidant, superior to red wine and equal to or better than green tea.
