Dr. Bogdan P. Amuzescu has received his PhD in natural sciences: biology in 2003 following research in ion channel biophysical properties performed at the University of Bucharest and Katholieke Universiteit Leuven during the period 2000-2003. Currently, he is working as associate professor in Dept. Biophysics & Physiology, Faculty of Biology, University of Bucharest. He has successfully completed his administrative responsibilities as advisory board member of the Romanian Society of Neuroscience during the period 2004-2012. His research includes biophysical and pharmacological properties of ENaC/Deg and TRP channels and applied research in cardiac electrophysiology. Based on this research and fellowship training he has received several awards and honors, such as the First prize of Romanian Neuroscience Society, co-chair of a platform session on cardiac electrophysiology at the 53rd BPS meeting. He is serving as an editorial member of several reputed journals like European Journal of Biophysics& expert reviewer for journals like Natural Products Chemistry and Research Journal. He has authored 23 research articles, 6 books or book chapters. He is a member of Biophysical Society, American Association for the Advancement of Science, Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology, Federation of European Neuroscience Societies, and other scientific societies.
